Ukraine


Michael Bertram, Director of Private Equity Investments, is based in Kyiv and has been with NCH since 2003.  He is responsible for identifying, financing, and developing NCH's investments in Ukraine, and in certain sectors in Russia and Moldova.  Prior to joining NCH, Mr. Bertram was the Vice President and Head of Industry Group at ABB Equity Ventures, where he oversaw investments aggregating $750 million over six years.  Before that he was Business Development Manager responsible for private infrastructure projects at ABB.  Prior to that, Mr. Bertram was Cost and Risk Manager in ABB's power generation division.  Mr. Bertram received a Diploma in Nuclear Engineering from the Odessa Technical Institute, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Mr. Bertram is supported in Kyiv by a full complement of investment and property management professionals.

Julia Belyakova, Director of Operations and Administration,
has been with NCH since 1995.  She is responsible for managing the accounting, back office, and operations functions in NCH's office in Kyiv, including tax and credit reports for all of NCH's investments in Ukraine.  Prior to joining NCH, Ms. Belyakova was Chief Accountant for Xerox in their Kyiv office from 1993 to 1995.  Before that she was Chief Accountant for the Ukrainian Legal Foundation from 1992 to 1993, and before that a Financial Examiner for the State Pension Fund of Ukraine from 1991 to 1992.  Ms. Belyakova received a Diploma in Economics from Kiev State University and a Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK). 

Maria Osyka, Director of Agriculture Investments,
is based in Kyiv and joined NCH in 2007. Ms. Osyka is responsible for managing NCH's agribusiness portfolio in Ukraine, and for identifying new investment opportunities in the agricultural sector in Ukraine and selected other countries.  Prior to NCH, Ms. Osyka was the Ukraine Country Manager for Monsanto Europe, an international agribusiness company.  In this capacity, she led new market initiatives, company mergers, restructurings, financial reporting, and strategic planning for several business lines, while establishing long-term partnerships with Ukrainian agricultural authorities, including the Ministry of Agriculture.  She has also recently worked with HELM AG and May Seed Group as a management consultant, leading their sales and marketing efforts.  Ms. Osyka received an MA in Economics from Central European University in Prague and an MBA from Goizueta Business School at Emory University. 

Ethan Taylor, Equity Investments,
is based in Kyiv and has been with NCH since 1997.  Mr. Taylor participates in the investment decision-making process from selection to exit and is in charge of the trading and corporate governance activities for the NCH portfolio of listed securities in Ukraine.  Prior to joining the firm, he assisted Price Waterhouse with the USAID- sponsored mass privatization program in Ukraine.  Mr. Taylor graduated from Willamette University with a BA in Economics and Russian Language and completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program and since 2001 has been a member of the CFA Institute.
